Colorado’s second-largest city, Colorado Springs is bursting with unique opportunities for students to enjoy all the beauty, history and fun the Pikes Peak Region has to offer.

Majestic natural beauty is certainly not hard to come by in Colorado Springs, so be sure to take advantage of your surroundings! Activities like hiking through the red rocks of the Garden of the Gods round out any itinerary and provide picture-perfect moments. It’s here that 300 million years of geological history is on display, which students could even explore and admire while on horseback! Also worth visiting is the Manitou Cliff Dwellings—a rare, historical treasure built by the Ancestral Puebloans more than 700 years ago.

The ultimate can’t-miss Colorado Springs experience, however, is hopping aboard the Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway to ascend to the top of America’s Mountain: Pikes Peak. After an unforgettably scenic ride to the 14,115-foot summit, students can take in the views offered by this National Historic Landmark and venture inside the state-of-the-art Summit Visitor Center to shop, dine and learn the mountain’s history, thanks to an impressive exhibit gallery with interactive digital features.

When it comes to arts and culture, Colorado Springs delivers. At the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum—where the pursuit of excellence knows no bounds—students can uncover the stories of our nation's most exceptional athletes, whose sheer determination and unwavering dedication propelled them to the pinnacle of their respective sports. With interactive exhibits and immersive displays, students will witness the highs and lows of America's greatest athletes and iconic Olympic and Paralympic moments throughout the museum’s 60,000-square-foot floorplan. The National Museum of WWII Aviation, ProRodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy also provide memorable experiences.

For live performances, check out the newly opened Ford Amphitheater. With stunning mountain views, this new live performance venue which opened in 2024 hosts top-tier entertainment that students are sure to remember forever. The Colorado Springs Philharmonic is also an option, along with a number of area performing arts centers and theatres.
